FRETILIN direct leadership election is a fair and democratic process that has been properly and well conducted

.

Let's put it this way, Mr. A is a FRETILIN militant. He therefore has the right to vote in the party leadership direct election. Supposed Mr. A did not like the two candidates (Mari Alkatiri- Francisco Luolo), and he wanted to participate in the party election and showed his discontentment by voting against the leadership candidacy.

In this case Mr. A has and is provided the chances to do so. Because he was given 3 ways in that election, Mr. A could vote to accept, against and just leave a blank votes for that single leadership candidates. So in my view, by democracy principles Mr. A has been fairly given the opportunity to uphold his democratic rights and principles in that democratic process.

We therefore conclude that as a militant Mr. A is satisfied for having participated in that direct party leadership ballot to vote for or against current FRETILIN leadership candidates.

Regarding the nonexistence of other opposing candidates, well my dear AMP brothers and sisters, it is because all the FRETILIN members agreed by consensus not to have ones. That is why in the ballot paper for the sake of democratic principles, FRETILIN Central Committee has given the alternative ways to vote against the candidates and the possibility of the party leadership candidates to be rejected by FRETILIN members or militants.

Hence, FRETILIN direct leadership election is a fair and democratic process that has been properly and well conducted.

Personally, I congratulate FRETILIN leadership and members for giving a very well done democratic lesson in Timorese young democratic nation-state. They deserve to be congratulated for having making another historic step in strengthening democracy in Timor Leste.

We hope for mutual respects among all political parties in Timor Leste on their divergences and different views and policies in Timorese politic.

By the end of the day, those Timorese who choose to involve in politic is because of idealism for a better Timorese nation and a better welfare for Timorese people.

Thank you

No consensus about that. The problem is that no-one in FRETILIN has the bravery/courage to challenge Alkatiri.

Where is the leader of tomorrow for Timor-Leste? Not yesterday's man.

It's not about the bravery/courage to challenge FRETILIN actual leadership but instead it's about strong determination by all FRETILIN members to prove a point that FRETILIN is a consolidated main most voted political party in Timor Leste which is united in its structure and its mission to take Timor Leste forward to progress and real development.

The leader of tomorrow must be born and well prepared to uphold democratic principles, not rushed as a bunch of puppets and undemocratic people who think just because they are new generation of potential leaders therefore they can force their will to take leadership without any legitimacy from people votes.

If the leadership of tomorrow want to take up the leadership then they must start to work hard and show their potential to lead as democrats and most importantly not as a bunch of puppet and potential corrupts who wish to live by easy money with no visions or lack of them on the nation future.
