President Jose Ramos Horta, said the recent report of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) was written by stupid people, because the report does not reflect the reality in the country.
“It was written by stupid people. I agree with the reaction of Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao to hit back, because the United Nations Agency exists in many other places, but they do not have the right people who will find solutions for resolving all the problems we face. We can use as an example, those who managed the program called “Oil for Food” in Iraq.
It was handled 100% by the United Nations, but unfortunately the corruption amounted to US $70 billion, and therefore the stupid people should not talk too much, President Horta said. President Horta made the statements yesterday at the Dili Convention Center, adding that he needed more time to read the report of UNMIT before he gives his response to UNMIT.
Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao is concerned about the recent report of UNMIT, because the report does not reflect the real situation in the country.
He added that the national development process is going on well and all the state bodies respect separation of powers.
PM Gusmao considers the report of UNMIT a way of destroying the image of the country.
