Director of Luta Hamutuk, Mericio Akara, said the Timorese National Police (PNTL) Institution is still fragile, because there is no unity between the officials of PNTL. Akara said the security institution has made efforts to guarantee security in the country particularly during the ceremony of Restoration of the Independence but they have no unity and finally the will not be united like in 2006.

“I know the PNTL institution is still fragile, because the experience in the past shows that the 2006 crisis caused members of PNTL to be separated,” Akara said.

He added that the Timorese Defense Force (F-FDTL) led by Major General Taur Matan Ruak was capable of showing their unity between leaders of F-FDTL and the institution that was why they were capable of guaranteeing security and stability during the 2006.

Director of Fundasaun Mahein, Nelson Belo, said the Parliamentary Majority Alliance (AMP) Government has made efforts to improve the security stability in the country and was capable of returning the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) to their homes after the 2006 crisis.
