Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao, said Timor-Lest would still be in the crisis if he did not read the RDTL constitution, to end the Mission of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) and the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in 2008.
Prime Minister Gusmao made the statements regarding the recent report made by the agency of the United Nations that showed that PM Gusmao is an obstacle for the national and democratic development process in the country. PM Gusmao added that he agrees with UNMIT as they have many experts, but they should analyze properly and respond to the Parliament for all things.
He added that some Timorese defend UNMIT to remain in the country, because they are benefiting from UNMIT’s presence. “I just want to tell the Timorese who are becoming experts for UNMIT; not to be arrogant and show off, because this is a bad thing that we can call intellectual and mental colonialism.
Our constitution states that we must not sell our sovereignty. For me, I am together with the people and this sovereignty,” PM Gusmao said.
President Jose Ramos Horta, said the report of the UNMIT was written by stupid people, and therefore he agrees with the statements of PM Gusmao to hit back to defend himself.
“I agree with reaction of Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao against UNMIT, because the United Nations in many countries has not always become the figure who could find solutions to resolve all the problems,” President Horta said.
