Nine years of independence, development is continuing: Horta

Dili,Timornewsline,- President Jose Ramos Horta said in nine years of independence, the Government has made efforts to develop this country, but some sectors still need to improved. The president made the comments during a speech at the ceremony for independence restoration day last Friday (20/5).

Horta called for the Government to work hard to fight for the young Timorese who are unemployed in the country by creating jobs for them. "In nine years of independence, we have succeeded in the health system, because the Ministry of Health is running a vaccine program to more than 80.000 children in the country, therefore the child mortality in the country is decreasing," Horta said.

Horta also called on the Government to continue paying attention to agriculture, education and health sectors, as they are very important sectors to strengthen the country's human resources. Josmel
