Maria Fernandes, whose husband was killed in a massacre by the pro-Indonesia militiamen at Liquica Church on April 5, 1999, has called on the Government to pay her compensation.
Fernandes explained that her spouse was killed by "Besi Merah Putih" militiamen and Indonesian armed force soldiers when they fled to a Catholic Church in Liquica on the 5th of April 1999.
Fernandes is a single parent and is responsible for three children and one of her daughters was tortured and she is now physically handicapped.
Another victim's family, Eliza dos Santos, whose spouse was also killed in the massacre, said she has received humanitarian aid from the Government, but it is not enough to sustain her family.
