MP Agusto Tara from the Social Democratic Party (PSD) said he supports the ex-Prime Minister Mari Alkatiri to run for presidential elections, as he is eligible to become the next president of the country.
"I think the ex-Prime Minister Mari Alkatiri has good knowledge to nominate himself in presidential elections, as Fretilin is historic and the greatest party in the country and I support his nomination," Tara said.
MP Tara was referring to the recent comments made by Bishop Alberto Ricardo da Silva saying Alkatiri is good to be nominated for president.
MP Eduardo Dusai from the CNRT Party said every citizen of the country has the right to run for the elections, but should have commitment to contribute to the country's development.
