World Bank donates US $1,140 for Finance Ministry

The World Bank in Timor-Leste has donated US $1,140 for the Timorese Planning and Finance Ministry to help the referred ministry to better improve the system of procurement.

Minister for Planning and Finance, Emilia Pires said such amount will be spent for four areas, such as to support amendment of the country's existing laws, identify necessity of the people in procurement at all the ministries and capacity building for the procurement officers.

"The World Bank donates us money to improve procurement system. There are four objectives such as to consolidate process of amending law, because now we have eight or nine laws and the laws should be put together.

We will also identify necessities of our people who process procurement in all the ministries and to know how far their understanding about procurement, so that we can hold a national program training for them," Minister Pires said.

Minister Pires added that the Government is implementing free balance system in order to avoid errors and failure in the future.

Well, if donating just ove one thousand dollars meaning trusting in the government, I'll donate twice as much to the opposition because most people here in Timor-Leste do trust the opposition.
