The Timorese Judicial System and Monitoring Program (JSMP) Judiciary Research Unit Coordinator, Roberto Paiseco, said it is important for the Government to produce a pardon law in order to avoid social injustice within the community when the president gives a pardon to prisoners.
Paiseco made the statements yesterday when they released three reports of monitoring the judicial sector in the country.
Paiseco added that the pardons by President Jose Ramos Horta to prisoners contributed to social injustice and therefore it was important to produce a pardon law so that the President can give pardons to the prisoners based on the law.
He also called on the Government and the competent institutions to add more judicial actors to the Baucau, Suai and Oe-Cuse District courts.
