Audit court to control state budget: PM Gusmao

Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao said the establishment of an audit court in Timor-Leste is very important, due to it could help control the country's state budget and prevent acts of corruption.

The prime minister made the comments during a speech marking an international meeting which was held at the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation last Friday (18/3). Gusmao explained that the audit court will better control fraud and various acts of corruption that might appear in the country.

Portuguese Audit Court President Guilherme Oliveira Martins said the audit court should become an instrument for transparency and accountability.

Martins added that the audit court should not only be a bureaucracy, as it is not a bureaucratic institution, but it should work effectively and efficiently.

What a farce. When the court decide then that you are in the wrong, you will go against the court as you have done in the past. So what is all this about?
