President Jose Ramos Horta said he is currently concerned about 1.300 of the Timorese who are currently working for the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT), as its mission will end next year.
"We have discussed the impact on the Timorese who are working for the UNMIT, as more than 1.300 of the Timorese who are working for UNMIT will lose their jobs.
We are thinking of how the Government and private sector can use them," Horta said.
Horta affirmed that the wages paid by the UN for the Timorese totals US $ 9 million; and that the state should look at this matter.
Horta added that there will be no serious problems after UNMIT leaves the country, due to the increase ofthe country's economic growth.
