The United Nations Police Commander, Commissioner Luis Carilho said the Timorese National Police (PNTL) officers were now capable of taking over security responsibility from the UN Police.
Carilho made the statements in Comoro yesterday in relation to the UN's plan of handing over security responsibility to the national police.
Carilho affirmed that the national police have showed their professionalism in responding situation; therefore the UN Police will hand over security responsibility to them.
He added that the UN Police will continue cooperating and professionalizing the Timorese Police officers in the future.
