It is difficult to fight corruption if there is no proper system: Alkatiri

Fretilin Secretary-General Mari Alkatiri said all sides in Timor-Leste were making efforts to prevent act of corruption, but there was no proper system of the Government it would be difficult to combat it.

According to Alkatiri, act of corruption provokes genocide, as it only benefits family and friends and that makes the majority of the people continue living in poverty. Alkatiri affirm that result of corruption, especially the money which is corrupted by certain people is to be saved in other countries.

He added that this act of corruption could only be combated if there are regional and international cooperation on extradition of the funds and exportation values illegally.
