E.TIMOR PETROLEUM TAX REVENUE HITS RECORD IN 2010

.
By Agence France-Presse - 12/22/2010

East Timor's petroleum income leapt to an all-time high of more than 900 million dollars in 2010, a government spokesman said Wednesday.

The government said it collected 914 million dollars in petroleum taxes this year, up about 38 per cent on 2009, from producers' revenues of 2.17 billion dollars.

East Timor is one of the world's youngest and poorest countries, and has relied heavily on foreign aid since voting for independence from Indonesia in 1999, but has major oil and gas deposits in the Timor Sea.

Government spokesman Agio Pereira said: "Timor-Leste (East) as a people are impoverished, but let us not forget, as a nation we are not poor."

The country, which has a population of 1.1 million, would use its natural resources income to boost economic growth, he said.

"We are able to achieve this by utilising our Petroleum Fund as a vehicle to stabilise peace, to spur economic growth, to build social, human and physical capital and to develop our non-oil economy," he said in statement.

I wonder who is benefitting from this 'record'. One thing is for sure, the East Timorese people are not benefitting it. It would be nice if they do! What a pitty!

ONLY A DUMB PERSON WOULD THINK THAT WHAT BELONGS TO THE TIMORESE NOT BENEFITING THE TIMORESE THEMSELVES.

Don't be too negative my friend. You guys never want to acknowledge the achievement this government has done. DASAR FRETILIN STUPID!

Of course the country is benefiting from it, not a private individual as what you may want.

In the END, it is the Timorese (collectively) who are benefiting from this achievement and not a private individual because the money does not belong to anyone but the state/the Timorese as a whole.

What Achivement? Can you describe me what are those achivements during this last four years. Do not count with the charity it means money for the eldery and ex falintil because this is not the proper way to put thinghs.

Only the most stupid, blind, deaf and unhuman can think that East Timorese is benefitting from the so-called 'record' income when he konws that the vast majority of the population is living under the poverty line.

I can see that you have been benefitting from the 'success' hence the blindness and the rest. Pretending that East Timorese are benefitting from that is sheer stupidity, but as they say: 'every dog has his day'. If you keep turning a blind on the poverty and keep pretending that nothing is happening one day the people will rip your eyes off.

My friend, - that you are a dumb person. Internationally acknowledged 'record' has registered that East Timor Petroleum TAX REVENUE hits record in 2010... This is because the government and managed it well during the course of its tenureship in the last 4 years, thus this is an achievement!.. if you are too dumb to not understand this as an achievement.. then I bear no CULPA for you being dumb.

Remember that this 'record' is controlled by the 'petroleum board' most of whom are of FRETILIN background and they know well how to 'distribute' to the people.

Their work is to make sure that the money benefits the Timorese, and that is why they are there.

If you are asking about ACHIEVEMENTS this government has done in the last 4 years, that mean you are either a blind person or someone who is not living in Timor-Leste.

Its not only me but everyone here is so happy with what this government is doing. You should go to DCC.. At the moment there are all chefe de sucos are gathering to reflect on the what they have done in 2010 and provide their suggestion for what 2011 would be.

From all information I gathered in the last 2 days, almost all (95%) chefe de sucos ARE HAPPY with what is going on... isn't it an achievement?

Can you tell me if in AUSTRALIA, one of the first world country, there is no poverty anymore?.. then look at the aborigines...

Can you tell me if in China, the second biggest economy in the world after the US, there is no poverty anymore?

Well the truth is only a DUMB person thinks what belongs to The Timorese only benefiting other and not the Timorese.

Happy New Year!

That's damn right. It is internationally acknowledged that East Timorese are living under the poverty line. If the 'record' is really happening there is no timorese who is living under the poverty line. Worst still, there are people who cannot, I REPEAT, cannot simply afford a sack of rice which is merely $20.00. Pretending that the people is benefitting is damn deaf and blind, to say the least and the worst unhuman excrement, at most.
