Baucau Diocese Bishop, Monsignor Basilio Nacimento said the Timorese leaders should be brave to make proper decision by saying no to the Australian Government’s proposal on setting up asylum seekers processing center in the country, due to Timor-Leste is a sovereign country.
The bishop made the comments in relation to the Australian Government’s proposal on setting up refugee detention center in the country.
Nacimento stressed that the country’s leaders had to be brave saying yes or no, otherwise it would impact the people who had fought for the country’s liberation.
Nacimento also said if the Government would accept the Australian Government’s proposal meant the Government is weak.
He added that the Timorese Government could help other countries’ people, but should pay attention first to its own people.
