STATE BUDGET ABLE TO IMPROVE PEOPLE'S LIVES: PIRES

Minister for Planning and Finance, Emilia Pires said the execution of the country’s state budget was able to improve the Timorese people’s lives in which numbers of the poverty is reducing.

The minister made the comments during a plenary which was held at the Parliament on Tuesday (23/11). Pires affirmed that the positive indicators of the budget execution is in the field of education where numbers of school children are increasing and other indicators are mortality of children is reducing and malaria and tuberculoses [TB} start to reduce.

“What the impact is, according to the World Bank, numbers of poverty in the country has reduced from 49, 9% to 41%,” Pires said. According to Pires, human development and economic growth of the country have also reached some progresses.
