President Jose Ramos Horta has agreed with the Government’s plan of borrowing money from the Chinese Government to help support the implementation of its national strategic planning.
Horta affirmed that all countries in the world ask for loan to develop their country, so it is not a bad thing and is important for the Government to measure its advantage. Horta stressed that he could only make comments on the issue, but only the Government has the power to make its own policy.
“I can only make comments on that issue. On the Government has the power to make its proper policy to speed up the country’s development for reducing numbers of poverty,” Horta said.

Loans from China?
There is nothing wrong with government policy which includes international loans.
But the importsnt questions are: how big, what interest rate and WHAT OTHER CONDITIONS??
Ti-Les must beware the type of conditional loans such as those from the World Bank - which have wreaked havoc in many countries.
