The problem with the current Minister of Finance, Emilia Pires, is that she lives in a virtual world, where statistics are fabricated to ease her conscience and incompetence.
If Emilia Pires lived with only one meal per day, was not able to get her clothes made in Bali because she had less than 40 cents to live on each day, bathed once a week because she had to walk 3 kms to fetch water, she wouldn’t even dream of a 2 digit economic growth ?
It’s immoral for the Minister of Finance, who lives amongst such visible poverty, to pay 5 digit figures to consultants to put together PR strategies which she tries to resell to her own people claiming 2 digit economic growth figures.
Her claims of steady improvement in budget execution are also shameful. For Emilia Pires, it has always been just about percentages, hasn’t it? What about sound financial management mechanisms that ensure value for money and real benefits for the people of Timor Leste?
What does 97% mean or any other figure that she pulls out of a hat?
Or is it because she thinks that her 2 digit figure is justified because she and her sister and some of those who have gone through the Ministry of Finance Piggy Bank, today are building an elite estate in Areia Branca reminiscent of double economic growth?
Have some scruples Minister, if not for your own dignity than for the good name of your father.

Come on, stop this rant already!!
So Emilia says that AMP has spent (executed?) 97% of the budget so far. Is she right or is she wrong? If she is right, then we ought to applaud her and her government. Let's not criticise for the sake of opposition. Let's commend them on their achievements and give them their due recognition. If you people think that the 97% figure is false then please let us know why it is so. Thank you.
