MP Joaquim Amaral from the Fretilin Party said corruption numbers in the country was staying in high. MP Amaral affirmed that system used to combat corruption in the country is not effective yet to control people from engaging in corruption.
“System being used to combat corruption is not effectively implemented and corruption numbers continue staying in high and it is difficult to be controlled,” MP Amaral said.
MP Amaral made the statements regarding the establishment of many institutions, such as the Anti Corruption Commission (KAK) to fight corruption, but in fact it they had not worked optimally.
MP Vital dos Santos from the Democratic Party (PD) said the anti-corruption commission (KAK) and the Public Prosecution had constitutional right to reduce corruption numbers in the country, but those institutions had not functioned well and had not processed legally the cases being filed.
