" IRISH GOV'T GRANTS TIMOR- LESTE AID OF 1.O5 MILLION USD

The Irish government has helped provide Timor-Leste with 1.05 million 750,000 euro (1.05 million U. S. dollars) to support programs of the country's local government, Timor Post reported on Monday.

In realizing this funding support, the Irish government through its representative Eoghan Walsh signed an agreement with the National Director for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Mikiko Tanaka.

Walsh said that local development and local governance were very important to help reduce poverty in the country.

Therefore, he said, the Irish Government is committed to strengthen local governance in Timor-Leste.
