MP Josefa Pereira from the Fretilin Party said President should not be subject to Australia regarding its proposal, asking Timor-Leste to set up asylum seekers processing center in the country, due to Timor-Leste was yet to ratify the international convention on refugee.
MP Pereira said negotiation between President Horta and Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard was baseless, as the country had not ratified yet the international convention on refugee.
She therefore said Timor-Leste had to consider the proposal and should look at either its positive and negative impact.
Timor Loro Sa’e National University student, Aniceto Lopes said as student he absolutely rejected the Australian Government’s proposal, as it would be risking the people’s lives.
