Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao has officially inaugurated a monument plaque of his hideout during the country’s resistance for independence in Fatumeta, a suburb of Dili.

Speaking to journalists PM Gusmao said this monument would be a memorial place for his struggle and be history for the country’s young generation.

The monument was constructed by the Catholic Church in recognition of Gusmao’s fight against Indonesian military occupation.

Prime Minister Gusmao also met with his old friend Duarti Rangel who had hid him in 1991.
