DILI COURT TO TRY POLICE ENGAGED IN CORRUPTION

The Dili District Court is scheduled to try five of the Timorese National Police (PNTL) officers who are suspected of being engaged in corrupting the state budget allocated to the joint operations in 2008.

Head of Criminal Section, Agapito Soares said after analyzing the documents and evidences, the court decided to try those five police officers on the upcoming September 30.

The five police officers are still carrying out their work, while waiting for summon from the court. About US $ 5000 of the state budget went missing during the joint operations of the manhunt of the rebels who engaged in attempted assassination to President Horta.
