Deputy Prime Prime Minister for Management and Good Governance, Mario Carrascalao walked out of the Council of Ministers’ meeting on Wednesday (25/8) during a discussion on the Government’s project implementation of 2010.
After leaving the meeting he then sent a short text message (SMS) to President Horta, threatening to resign from his post. Carrascalao left the meeting, as there were many criticisms by the Government’s officials to the project management execution which was under his responsibility.
An unnamed source said Carrascalo left the meeting without informing Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao who was speaking in the meeting at that time.
The source stressed that such attitude showing that Carrascalao had not respected Xanana Gusmao as the country’s prime minister. General Director for Finance, Francisco Borlaco said there was a project under the auspicious of the deputy prime minister’s office with amount US $ 1 million, but no progresses reached.
