The local residents of Atauro Island have expressed their rejection over the Australian Government's proposal, asking Timor-Leste to set up asylum seekers processing center in the country and expressed their endorsement to the Government's policy of building the Greater Sunrise's pipeline building to Timor-Leste.
The local residents made the comments during a dialog with PresidentJose Ramos Horta regarding the recent comments made by Minister forEconomy and Development, Joao Gonsalves saying Autauro could be used for asylum seekers processing center site.
A local resident, Jose Soares said they 100% supported the Government's policy on building the pipeline to Timor-Leste and rejected refugee detention center in the country.
In response, President Horta said there was no agreement yet with the Australian Government on the issue [refugee detention center].

Who cares about the people of Atauro? They only live there and can be pushed to one side. Who cares about parliament? Who cares about AMP MPs? They will do what they are told or else. Who cares what the Church says? We can buy them off by fixing more churches and giving them money to build new convents and priests residences. Easy buy it off, it will sell its own soul for few pennies....eg Matenus Bere case was a precendence case. Xanana and Horta had made mockery of those institutions..
Why the ausilum seeker is need to put in Timor while they were want to going to Australia, Timor leste need to anticipate this because matter this method from Australia to invade quetly on this country, and they (australia) want to treat Timor Leste people as Salomon island.
