Minister Zacarias da Costa held a meeting with his counterpart from Myanmar, Mr. U Nyan Uin.
On the 20th of July, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Zacarias Albano da Costa, officially attended the Opening Ceremony of the 43rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam, in the capacity as Special Guest of Honour to the ASEAN Standing Committee.
At the margin of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, Minister da Costa held a meeting with his counterpart from Myanmar, Mr. U Nyan Uin.
During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, showed his satisfaction for the willingness of Timor-Leste to accede full membership of ASEAN and informed that Myanmar will not oppose Timor-Leste’s accession.
Minister Zacarias da Costa commented that: “Minister U Nyan Win accepted my invitation to visit Timor-Leste which will happen already this August and we both agreed for both countries to work together in diplomatic actions at bilateral, regional and international levels.
At the meeting it was also agreed for both countries to open reciprocate embassies as soon as possible.END
