President Jose Ramos Horta said it was unnecessary to deploy the Timorese Defense Force (F-FDTL) soldiers in the country’s border, as he preferred the Naktuka border case ought to be resolve through dialog.
The president made the comments regarding the recent demands of the Naktuka local residents asking to place the F-FDTL soldiers in the area. Speaking to journalists Horta said the Naktuka case should not be resolved with military force, but it had to be going a dialog.
“The solution is not to add more numbers of forces there in the border. We want to talk to one another, having dialog with the people, so that it could avoid conflict.
I do not believe that to place military force there would resolve the problem, therefore we want to continue with negotiation,’ Horta said.
In responding to facility shortcomings in the border, Horta said the Government was currently trying to improve proper conditions by allocating state budget for 2011.
