Fretilin MP Estanislau da Silva has called on the Parliamentary Committee B for defense and security to urge the Timorese National Police (PNTL) officers to be responsible for defaming the country’s ex-guerilla fighter, Cornelio “L-7” Gama from the UNDERTIM party.

MP Da Silva made the comments during a plenary in relation to an allegation made by the PNTL police officers saying MP L-7 engaged in illegal business.

Da Silva stressed that if L-7 did something wrong, so then the police could treat him as the country’s citizen and took the case to the Public Prosecution humanly and should not make him offended.

Meanwhile, another ex-guerilla fighter, Renan Selak who is also the UNDERTIM MP was also insulted by a police officer in Lospalos.

Renan Selak urged the PNTL commander to sack his officer; otherwise he would be in danger.

MP Hermen Barros called on the PNTL commander to pay attention to this matter, as these police officers had not appreciated the veterans’ struggle for the country’s independence.
