During a political statement in the Parliament, Fretilin bench has urged Minister for Justice, Lucia Lobato to resign from her post, due to she is now being the accused of the ex-militia commander, Maternus Bere’s release.
MP Arsenio Bano from Fretilin said the time had come to implement the law in the right way; everyone should be subject to the law.
Bano stressed that the law should not be implemented only for the ordinary people, but should also for the president, the prime minister and the ministers.
Meanwhile, MP Carmelita Moniz from CNRT said it was better for the court to resolve this case, as the court’s role was to uncover the truth. Director for Judicial system Monitoring (JSMP) said Minister Lobato should not become victim for Bere’s case, as she was not the one who made decision.
