The ex-guerilla fighter representatives from the 13 districts have urged the Dili District Police Commander, Superintendent Chief Pedro Belo to resign from his post, as is suspected of being engaged in insulting the veterans.
The veterans also threatened to close down STL daily newspaper. The ex-guerilla fighters also stressed that the STL should be closed if they miswrote statement of the Dili district Police commander Belo.
MP Faustino “Renan Salak” dos Santos said that they made the statement because they did not want other people to use power to press the ex-guerilla fighters. “We will continue urging Pedro Belo to resign from his post if he is found guilty and if the mistake is done by the STL then the STL should be closed,” Renan said.
Meanwhile, MP Cornelio “L-7” Gama said he was dissatisfied with this problem, adding that the police had many times made such action against him.
“It has been twice now where I became victim, the first was in 2004 and 2010, my car seized twice and that make me not feel free,” PM L7 said.
The ex-guerilla fighters also called on the Timorese Defense Force (F-FDTL) Commander, Major General Taur Matan Ruak to clarify email of the current Finance Minister Emilia Pires who sent an email to her friend in Australia saying that General Ruak had planned to hold coup d’atat against the former President of Republic Xanana Gusmão.
