Dili District Police Commander, Pedro Belo said he was ready to resign from his post if would be found guilty by evidence in relation to the recent media publications that he had insulted the country’s ex-guerilla fighter, Cornelio “L-7” Gama.
Belo stressed that a new generation he did appreciate and respect contribution of the veterans to the country’s independence.
However, he said being the member of the state institution they were obliged to protect and provide security to the country’s people, as well as taking necessary action against any attitude which breached the law.
“If have really insulted the veterans, I am ready to resign from my post,” Belo said.
Belo added that the Suara Timor Loro Sa’e, recent publication was falsehood and manipulation to create instability within the community.
