MP Ernes Barros from the Parliamentary Majority Alliance (AMP) said they supported the Public Prosecution’s plan to summon President Jose Ramos Horta and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao regarding the release of the ex-militia commander, Maternus Bere.
Barros stressed that the prime minister had stated he would appear in the Public Prosecution in relation to the case and said such attitude showed that the AMP was subject to the law.
Barros also said President Horta would be summoned by the Public Prosecution to testify, as this was law to abide by. He added that all sides should look at the reason why the president made decision to release Bere.
