MPs from the National Congress for the Timorese Reconstruction, Fretilin, National Unity Party (PUN) and KOTA have said that it was better to dissolve the National Parliament and run another election, because many MPs were absent many times.
“It is better to dissolve the Parliament if it does not function well as many MPs are absent many times,” MP Duarte Nunes from CNRT said.
MP Nunes made critics that the MPs had many times claimed to increase their salary but they had never fulfill their duty as MP and it had balance with their claims.
MP Aniceto Guterres from Fretilin said that some times there was no discussion in the Parliament due to the absence of the MP, adding that sometimes the debate start at 10:00 AM and it was in the contrary with the Parliamentary regiment that the debate should start at 9:00 AM.
“Fortunately the Parliamentary debate starts at 10:00 AM, but sometimes it did not happean because the absence of the MPs and this is different with the first legislative Government,” MP Guterres said.
At the same time Fernanda Borges from the National Unity Party stated the same stories that the MPs had absent many times and it was one obstacle for the Parliament to run debate.
MP Manuel Tilman from KOTA also said that it is better for the people to ask Prime Minister to dissolve the Parliament as it has not function well lately.
