The Parliamentary President Fernando “Lasama” de Araujo has called on the Government to firmly maintain its position to build pipeline from the Greater Sunrise oil and Gas field to the country.

Lasama stressed that the Timorese Government and the people should maintain its position to demand for the pipeline construction in the country as it is a national interest, although the Australian Government continue pressuring our Government in the negotiation process.

“The LNG in the Timor-Sea is the wealth of Timor-Leste and although the Australian Government continues to put pressures on us but it is important to continue the negotiation in order to have the pipeline in Timor-Leste,” Lasama said.

Meanwhile MP Rui Menezes from Democratic Party (PD) said that the Government should not follow the will of the Australian Government but it should continue maintaining its position to build the Sunrise LNG plant in Timor-Leste.
